Please show logs that demonstrate Adhearsion stopping. That is not normal behaviour.

Re: Make a persistant adhearsion connection

sudeep.parajuli
Greeting Ben,

The main problem is that everytime the server reboots my ahn process stops .So,I have to configure adhearsion (ahn process) in such a way that the ahn process runs automatically in every system reboot.for that I have written a scipt in bash and used that script to run via crontab in every 1 minutes but the cron is not running the script.when I run the script locally it works fine.
I have attached the script file .
Please suggest any other method to run adhearsion process on system restart.

Re: Make a persistant adhearsion connection

Ben Langfeld
I would suggest you use systemd or Upstart to launch your application. If these are not available, you might consider writing a SysV init script. You can use Foreman to export to these formats. See http://adhearsion.com/docs/best-practices/deployment#deploying-to-the-cloud/a-vps/bare-metal

If you use packager.io to create an OS package for your application, it includes this and much more.

Re: Make a persistant adhearsion connection

Bigyan Adhikary

Hi Ben,

Sudeep and I am working on this together. Using Upstart isn't working. I used foreman to create upstart scripts testapp.conf, testapp-ahn.conf, testapp-ahn-1.conf. The contents of the testapp-ahn-1.conf file is https://paste.fedoraproject.org/303906/07612421/ . What settings are you using?

Regards.

Ben, here's what I get in the syslog. I'm not sure where else to look?

bigyan@paf:/etc/init$ ls ahn*
ahn-ahn-1.conf  ahn-ahn.conf  ahn.conf

bigyan@paf:/etc/init$ sudo initctl start ahn-ahn-1
initctl: Job failed to start

Re: Make a persistant adhearsion connection

Ben Klang-2
The specific error that you're seeing is that upstart is unable to find the command to execute, which in this case is "bundle." How do you have Ruby installed? If you are using rvm or rbenv you may need to create shims. Refer to the docs from those projects for more details.  If you are using the system-provided Ruby packages, you may simply need to specify the full path to "bundled" or alter the PATH environment variable.

Hi Ben,

Sudeep and I am working on this together. Using Upstart isn't working.

You guys really need to define "isn't working" properly in these situations. Please be more verbose.

I used foreman to create upstart scripts testapp.conf, testapp-ahn.conf, testapp-ahn-1.conf. The contents of the testapp-ahn-1.conf file is <a href="https://paste.fedoraproject.org/303906/07612421/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmousedown="this.href='https://www.google.com/url?q\75https%3A%2F%2Fpaste.fedoraproject.org%2F303906%2F07612421%2F\46sa\75D\46sntz\0751\46usg\75AFQjCNFz4rIsmdGwhsczTHhSiKTcyzQqLQ';return true;" onclick="this.href='https://www.google.com/url?q\75https%3A%2F%2Fpaste.fedoraproject.org%2F303906%2F07612421%2F\46sa\75D\46sntz\0751\46usg\75AFQjCNFz4rIsmdGwhsczTHhSiKTcyzQqLQ';return true;">https://paste.fedoraproject.org/303906/07612421/ .

That looks reasonable.

What settings are you using?

Regards.

I would suggest you use systemd or Upstart to launch your application. If these are not available, you might consider writing a SysV init script. You can use Foreman to export to these formats. If you use <a href="http://packager.io" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" onmousedown="this.href='http://www.google.com/url?q\75http%3A%2F%2Fpackager.io\46sa\75D\46sntz\0751\46usg\75AFQjCNHpzPsWTS90MAbL62uQQkUh_RPqgA';return true;" onclick="this.href='http://www.google.com/url?q\75http%3A%2F%2Fpackager.io\46sa\75D\46sntz\0751\46usg\75AFQjCNHpzPsWTS90MAbL62uQQkUh_RPqgA';return true;">packager.io to create an OS package for your application, it includes this and much more.

Please show logs that demonstrate Adhearsion stopping. That is not normal behaviour.
